Krabbé's exhibition is a first: in the history of the historical location of Slot Zeist, the contemporary artist has been given free reign to react to the building’s history by visual interventions. From January 31 until February 13, visitors have exclusive access to the main building. Krabbé tries to direct the viewer's gaze to point out forgotten chapters in art history. By replacing some of the portraits of former Royalty by portraits of his personal heroes. Friends and acquaintances are given a place on prime locations in the former castle, but the artist also honors strangers who particularly have affected him. Like pro skater Clyde Semmoh, a childhood friend of Krabbé who passed away two years ago. Or a homeless man on Venice Beach in Los Angeles. Or the trans woman DJ and activist Honey Dijon. Or Dr. Rat, the first graffiti writer of Amsterdam.

According to the artist, these are contemporary heroes, for their courage and the path they have chose.

By painting portraits of them, he highlights his slowly fading personal memories and the beauty of this moment.
